Biography Brief - Edgar Herron (February 1, 1908 - June 7, 2005)

PARENTS/SIBLINGS:  Edgar Herron was born on February 1, 1908, in Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama [1-8].  He was the fifth of the ten known children born to James Thomas Herron (May 21, 1879-July 28, 1966) and Mintie Ardiona Ann Cheatham (July 1879-June 16, 1951) [9-41].  His siblings included the following [9-41].
  1. Mamie Ethel Herron, b.  September 30, 1900, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  April 20, 1972, Jasper, Walker County, Alabama, USA.
  2. Walter James Herron,  b.  September 10, 1902, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  July 13, 1970, Merrillville, Lake County, Indiana, USA.
  3. Clarence Herron, b.  June 04, 1904, Pocahontas, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  April 20, 1986, Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama, USA.
  4. Flossie Herron, b.  February 12, 1906, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  December 07, 1996, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA.
  5. Donnie Mae Herron, b.  August 04, 1910, Carbon Hill, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  November 08, 1995, Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, USA.

MARRIAGE:  On December 7, 1929, Edgar married Dolly Cain in Walker County, Alabama [1, 42-43].   Born September 11, 1913, in Walker County, Alabama, Dolly was the daughter of Hester Franklin Cain and Emma Jones [43-48].


CHILDREN:  The marriage of Edgar and Dolly produced eight children [43-66].   They were the following [43-66].

  3. Josephine Herron b.  October 14, 1934, Osceola, Mississippi County, Arkansas, USA.
  4. Virginia "Tinsy" Herron, b.  May 29, 1936, Osceola, Mississippi County, Arkansas, USA.
  5. Betty Jane Herron, b.  September 24, 1940, Osceola, Mississippi County, Arkansas, USA; d.  November 07, 2019, Nauvoo, Walker County, Alabama, USA.
  6. Peggy Ruth Herron, b.  April 10, 1944, Prospect, Walker County, Alabama, USA.
  7. Arlene Frances Herron, b.  November 29, 1945, Prospect, Walker County, Alabama, USA; d.  November 10, 2017, Jasper, Walker County, Alabama, USA.
  8. Deborah Diane Herron, b.  January 30, 1951, Prospect, Walker County, Alabama.

DEATH:
  On May 13, 1981, in Nauvoo, Walker County, Alabama, Dolly died at sixty-seven [42].  Edgar, a widower for 24 years, died on June 7, 2005, in Nauvoo [1].   Their interments are in Old Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery in  Prospect, Walker County, Alabama  [1,42].
